Nominees for the Zeeland Innovation Award Emergo 2019 announced 12 September 2019
Date: August 26, 2019 - PRESS RELEASE -
Successfull innovation
The Zeeland Innovation Prize Emergo is an initiative of the Province of Zeeland, in collaboration with DockWize, HZ University of Applied Sciences, VNO-NCW and Chamber of Commerce. Omroep Zeeland is a media partner. The prize is awarded annually to the Zeeland entrepreneur with the most appealing innovation.
The nominated innovations
RoNik Inspectioneering / Terra Inspectioneering
RoNik has developed and marketed a confined spaces drone inspection service to realize high quality measurements and risk analyzes in accordance with international inspection standards with the aim of reducing work in confined spaces and eliminating working at heights. The technology and methodology is being rolled out worldwide.
Nemag
Nemag has developed a new type of gripper to be able to unload dry bulk goods (such as iron ore) from large seagoing vessels at least 10% faster, at lower costs and lower energy consumption, thereby improving the efficiency of a bulk terminal. An advanced virtual simulation model was used for this, which was developed together with TU Delft.
H4A
H4A has developed a sustainable asphalt. This asphalt is 50% greener than normal asphalt. The fossil raw material in this product has been replaced by a biological binder, lignin, from sustainable forestry as a residual material. It is released during various industrial processes, such as the production of cellulose for paper. Currently, the majority of them are burned, due to a lack of better utilization.
Kingfish Zeeland
Kingfish Zeeland is a pioneer in the commercial production of Yellowtail (Seriola lalandi), a fish species originally from the southern hemisphere, a very popular fish throughout Europe, through the use of very innovative technology. This technology involves the farming of fish on land in one recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), whereby Oosterschelde water is continuously filtered, cleaned and reused. The system is very efficient using only renewable energy, making this the most sustainable way of breeding fish.
Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS)
EMS has developed an ammonia sensor, which ensures low cost and reliable gas monitoring,
process monitoring and prevention in livestock farming.
Assessment
The professional jury, under the direction of deputy Jo-Annes de Bat, will go on a company visit to the nominated candidates. In addition, HZ students carry out research into the innovations and process this into a report that is used by the jury to arrive at a final assessment in addition to the company visits.
What do you think is the best innovation?
In addition to the jury prize, a public prize is awarded. On emergo-innovatieprijs.nl you will soon find short videos in which the innovations are explained. During the voting period from 23 October to 6 November you can vote for your favorite innovation.
Presentation of the Emergo prize during Contacta
On Wednesday 6 November a.s. the winners of both the Emergo jury prize and the Emergo audience prize will be announced during the network fair Contacta.
