Interview with Erik Van Rossum, Dutch fruitgrower using Storex DCS System. 20 December 2016
Erik van Rossum talks about his experiences with the Dynamic Control System (DCS), which he uses to store his fruit.
With the DCS system I can keep the fruit at the lowest possible oxygen value without taking on a wide safety margin.
"We store the fruit in 30 ULO cold stores ranging from 60 tons to 340 tons. The use of ULO allows us to store the fruit, especially Jonagold apples, all around the year. We started exporting fruit to distant destinations more and more during the last years. Because of this the hardness and shelf life has become more important."
"It is for us an extra check both that the apple can not shoot in the alcohol. If you go into the oxygen is very low, the risk of alcohol formation in the fruit there. In the past, to make you agree with scald, since the DCS use is not occurred. the flavor, natural flavor that has the apple with the harvest which is retained. it ensures the quality. for me, quality after keeping the most important. with the DCS system I can store fruit at the lowest possible oxygen value without taking a large safety margin.
